Hi, I’m Mike! Thanks for being here. Generative AI video excites me and that’s why I started AI Video School. Some technology changes a specific industry (like how digital video changed how editors edit video) and other change the world (like how streaming video allows us to watch whatever we want, whenever we want). Generative AI video is one of the things that will change not just an industry, but also what people come to expect of video. There will be personalization and interactivity and things we can’t even imagine yet, just like it would have been hard to imagine all the things that make TikTok so addictive ten years ago.
I love being at the forefront of emerging video technology and generative media:
- As an early adopter of streaming video in the early-2000s, I had the opportunity to travel around the world to stream live events.
- I created a short film called Blind Date using the video game Grand Theft Auto and a free online text-to-speech engine.
- Produced an iOS app called Phrenic, an interactive sci-fi thriller that allowed people to Watch, Read, and Play.
- Created a text-to-video webseries with Plotagon called League of Normal about a superhero who doesn’t want to be super anymore.
- Wrote a choose-your-own-adventure story about a haunted doll with over 30 endings.
- Developed an interactive and immersive thriller called Zoe Trapp: Genetic Enhancement Advisor.
The moment I started playing around with generative AI tools like RunwayML, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion Deforum, I saw a future that will be even more interactive and personalized. The list of tools I’m excited about grows every week: FullJourney, Pika, HeyGen, Topaz… I’ve usually stayed “in the background at the forefront” but I wanted to start a YouTube channel and blog because we are in the early days and the early days are always the most exciting time.
